CASA HISTORY

Once a spacious traditional farmhouse at the small rural town of Cubas in Minas Gerais state, now a bright "beach-farm" house just steps away from the sea.

Casa Amarela is named after the original color of this antique house that gained big wooden verandas overlooking the private pool and surrounding nature when being reassembled at Maré. The solar and bright theme is marked by the giant concrete sun that overlooks the hand carved wooden steps to the second floor. In its new life it has 3 spacious suites, an open kitchen and airy living room and multiple hammocks and solar beds to accomodate the whole family.

The cactus garden is a new addition complemented by fruit trees that attract both local birds and curious guests looking for a snack.

DESIGN

Old pequi beans from trees felled almost a hundred years ago support the second floor and are the main details on the open living room. An antique wooden bench carved with angels in the Baroque style traditional to the gold rush era of Minas Gerais is a nod to the house's original location and the hand carved moving pannels shaped like branches integrates the house to the surrouding rainforest.
